Rep is the name of the A & B divisions within Softball BC’s minor program.

A is the top division with the top players within their area playing. It usually has a greater time commitment than B.

B is the 2^nd division and consists of the next level of players.

C is the 3^rd division and is sometimes called House or Recreation and encompasses the rest of the players.

In Langley, our A teams are called Fraser Valley Fusion and B teams are called Langley Xtreme.

Rep is officially recognized by Softball BC in the first year of U13. Players are not allowed to try-out until they are 1^st year U13’s.

Most Rep teams are done via birth year. For example, the 2010’s only have 2010 born players. The ‘06’s only have players born in 2006.

Teams are allowed to carry players from both birth years within their division.

The reason teams usually only carry one birth year is so that the team can move up together.

The coaches depend on the team. Most of our A coaches are non-parents from a variety of backgrounds but with a love and comprehensive knowledge of the game. Some of our B coaches are also non-parent but some are parent led.

• In the off-season:
  • This does depend on the coaches’ expectations but generally it is 1 team a practice, 1 batting practice, and 1 pitching/catching per week starting in October and running through to March.
  • Teams may also choose to participate in our Rep development program which would add an hour or two a week.
• During the season:
  • the expectation is that your softball team in the priority.
  • Games are twice a week, with a possible practice on the weekends.
  • Teams will also participate in roughly 4 – 6 tournaments a season.

• It varies by team but there is an association registration fee of approximately $500 for every player.
• Then each team will have a team budget. These range from $1200/player for B teams and younger teams in general to $4000-$5000/player for older A teams. This would include most team expenses including tournament entry fees and travel non-parent coaches.
• The team budget can be paid for via parent contributions, fundraising, or a combination of both.
• Most teams decide how they want to come up with the money as a group.

• Rep teams will play their league games all over the Lower Mainland from Chilliwack to North Vancouver but most of the games are still within a 30 – 40 minute drive.
• Many tournaments are hosted locally but our A teams do travel to the US quite a bit and our B teams usually head up to Kelowna for a tournament and sometimes down to the US.
